Street Parties promoting cycling

27/08/2010 12:02:26

Streets Alive is helping 15 street parties in Bristol so that cycling can be promoted.

Bristol is the leading National Demonstration City and Streets Alive has joined in by supporting 15 street parties to which the Council's cycling advisers attend.

Residents have the chance to have a go on a bike, chat about their worries about cycling, get tips on routes to work etc. as well as cycle maintenance.

Afterwards all houses in the streets are being visited for face to face conversations about cycling in the city.

This is all made possible in the relaxing atmosphere of their traffic-free street right on residents' doorsteps.

The project build on Streets Alive's experience of showing how street parties can be a very effective way of engaging residents on greener travel options.

Results of the project will be available in October.
